7月8日至10日，金砖国家峰会和上合组织峰会将在俄罗斯乌法接连举行。巴基斯坦和印度将在上合组织峰会上启动加入上合组织的程序。这是上合组织2001年成立以来首次扩大。

India and Pakistan are on their way to joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, according to a senior Chinese diplomat who confirmed that moves to admit the countries will begin soon.
据中国一位外交官证实，印度和巴基斯坦将启动加入上合组织程序。

“上合组织”即上：献髯橹⊿hanghai Cooperation Organization，SCO），成立于2001年，致力于维护地区稳定（maintain regional stability）和打击恐怖主义（combat terrorism）。目前有6个成员国（ member states）。

印度、巴基斯坦以及伊朗、阿富汗和蒙古国是上合组织的观察员国（observer states）。印度和巴基斯坦作为有核国家（nuclear power）加入到这一地区组织，其作用不容小视。不仅将提高上合组织的国际影响力（increase the SCO's global influence），另外有助于减少印巴两国间的摩擦（reduce contradictions between India and Pakistan）。
